A Clinical Comparison of Surgical Wound Closured by Nylon Suture and Adhesive Skin Tape

Abstract
|
|
|
From May 1991 to Oct. 1991, 190 case of surgical wound closure were studied between nylon Suture and Adhesive skin tape.
@ES The results are as follow:
1) Incidence of postoperative wound infection, skin separation and seroma or hematoma were more frequent in case of nylon Suture than Adhesive skin tape. Compared with two group. lower incidence rate in Adhesive skin tape.
2) In incidence of wound infection. There is no significant difference between dirty-contaminated wound and clean wound, but skin tape showed lower infection rate in clean-contaminated wound.
3) The infection rate is lower in adhesive skin tape at any at any degree of depth of subcutaneous fat.
4) In the postoperative pain of wound, It showed lesser in skin tape.
5) The Adhesive skin tape also produced good result in cosmetic effect, shortening of the operative time and the hospitalization bet cost effect is uncompetitible.
